Aurora at the Peace Pagoda
Aurora at the Peace Pagoda
I had a plan to set my alarm for 2:45 a.m. in order to drive to a lake in VT to capture sunrise, but just as I was going to bed, I got a notification that the aurora was active. I took a quick picture from my backyard, and it was brilliant red. Having strong northern lights in Massachusetts is rare, so I felt compelled to go out. My first stop was the French King Bridge, but the aurora had died down, and the lights on the bridge there were too strong. Next, I went to the Peace Pagoda, and after an hour of waiting, the aurora picked back up and was strong enough to see with the naked eye.
Photographed on the traditional lands of the Nipmuc People.
